Mark Lynch, Coordinator of Safety, IBEW Local 98
Mark Lynch is the Safety Coordinator for IBEW Local 98 and also Chairs the Safety Committee of the Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades Council. Mark's career with Local 98 began in 2004 when, at age 18, he began working in the field as a seasonal helper. He graduated Local 98's college-accredited Apprentice Training Program in 2010. At age 25, he raised his ticket with Local 98. That same year, he served as an area foreman on the prestigious Temple University Science project, managing 25 Local 98 electricians. Nearly four years ago, Mark was promoted to Safety Coordinator for the union. He displayed his leadership skills at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The extraordinary measures Local 98 took to keep its members safe and working throughout the worst of the pandemic further burnished Mark's reputation as a health and safety expert in the regional construction industry. The COVID-19 safety protocols Mark helped establish here proved to be so effective that OSHA adopted them nationally. Mark and his team's efforts were also recognized by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania when they were recently presented with the Governor's Award for Safety. The Lynch family has a long and proud history with Local 98. Mark's father has 42 years vested in the Union.
