Description

Join GBCA as we host James Harrity, Compliance Assistance Specialist, Monica Rakoczy, Safety Consultant/Owner of Enter Training Solutions, and Scott Shimandle, Compliance Assistance Specialist – Allentown Area Office for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Jim, Monica and Scott will discuss trenching and excavation.

James Harrity, Compliance Assistance Specialist for OSHA
Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University. He began his career at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. He moved onto the US Army Corps of Engineers working for the Philadelphia District and later the New York District. Jim started with OSHA in 2002 as an Assistant Area Director. He is currently the Compliance Assistance Specialist for the Philadelphia Area Office and he has over 30 years in Occupational Safety and Health.


 

Scott Shimandle, Compliance Assistance Specialist – Allentown Area Office, OSHA
Scott graduated from Kutztown University, with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, with a concentration in Biology. He has been with OSHA for over 33 years and has served as a Compliance Safety and Health Officer (Industrial Hygienist) and as an Assistant Area Director (Health Supervisor). Currently and for the past 20 years he has been Allentown’s Compliance Assistance Specialist, which is a position designed to promote OSHA, and its resources through non-enforcement means. In this position, he oversees the Area Office’s Alliance Program, Partnership Program and Voluntary Protection Program.


Monica Rakoczy, Safety Consultant/Owner of Enter Training Solutions
The owner, operator and face of EnterTRAINING Solutions, Monica Rakoczy grew up walking work sites with her father, the CEO of a general contracting company in Lancaster, PA. Upon graduating from Penn State University, Rakoczy moved to Virginia, where she worked as a project administrator, marketing and equipment coordinator, then equipment director for MEB General Contractors. After years in the field, Monica started working for an equipment rental company where she developed her specialty with trench safety. Upon returning to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Monica started working for an engineering firm as a safety consultant. In 2017, Rakoczy opened EnterTRAINING Solutions to provide OSHA safety training and compliance assistance for the construction, industrial, and utility industries. In 2019, Monica was honored by the Lancaster-Lebanon, PA SCORE with a prestigious small business award. In 2020 Ms. Rakoczy has been selected to represent the Land Improvement Contractors of America (LICA) at CONEXPO-CONAG as an educational speaker in Las Vegas, and she has also been selected by PA One Call to be the 2020 Keynote Speaker for the five Pennsylvania Safety Days being held across the state.
